  • 4-inch piece of fresh ginger
  • 1 Serrano chile
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp Chinese Five Spice powder
  • Chives, chopped fine for garnish
